We are inviting you to apply for our open Convention Services Manager position. In this role, you'll service assigned groups and special events, preparing both types for successful event execution. In this role you will work closely with event planners by planning the details of their agenda, room set up and menu design. The key to being successful is to ensure that a “beyond expectations” experience is delivered. Additionally, you'll optimize revenue goals by suggesting menu enhancements that align with clients' needs. We offer a base pay plus commission compensation model. You'll receive a base salary of $50,000-60,000, commensurate with experience, along with revenue-based commission opportunities, allowing you to grow your income based on your success. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- General knowledge of the practices and procedures of a hotel/resort and convention center
- 2-5 years of catering manager/conference services or similar event planning management experience in a resort or convention center with substantial function space and/or heavy group volume
- Two years' supervisory experience.
- Experience managing large (1000+ people), complex multi-day events with many moving parts.
- Experience with negotiating changes in complex programs
- Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Sales experience to up-sell food, beverage, and meeting room services
- Experience managing financials and running reports
- Senior level catering manager/conference services manager experience
- Experience working with groups/clients in a variety of market segments and budget levels
