Job Description:

Sofidel America is a subsidiary of the Sofidel Group, one of the leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and domestic use worldwide. We are currently seeking a Converting Packaging Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining packaging equipment and processes to ensure the production of finished products that meet both customer and company requirements. The Converting Packaging Operator will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and high-quality production environment. Key Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Adhere to health & safety and company policies at all times.
  • Follow safety and environmental procedures and utilize required PPE.
  • Never bypass or disconnect safety devices on equipment while in operation.
  • Immediately address and report unsafe conditions to management.
  • Participate in accident investigations as needed.
  • Support Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP standards.
  • Apply customer specifications to machine operation for quality compliance.
  • Perform regular equipment audits to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Conduct quality checks with honesty and integrity.
  • Report non-conforming products to shift supervisor and management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize contamination risks.
  • Operate machinery at maximum efficiency.
  • Set up equipment for optimal performance.
  • Perform basic maintenance and write work orders for corrective actions.
  • Inspect and evaluate equipment conditions regularly.
  • Plan and execute equipment change-overs as necessary.
  • Minimize waste in raw materials and production processes.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance and quality departments.
  • Record productivity and quality data accurately.
  • Work as a team to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Implement and maintain good practices for continuous improvement.
  • Assist in identifying specific training requirements.
  • Utilize LEAN manufacturing techniques to minimize waste.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Promptly clean up spills and report them as necessary.
  • Keep work areas clear of obstacles and debris.
  • Ensure tools are well-maintained and stored properly.
  • Obtain management approval before affixing items to equipment.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
  • Strong mathematical skills for measurement and calculations.
Work Environment:
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in plant and warehouse areas.
  • PPE includes safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests, and hairnets or hats.
  • Variable temperatures in the plant/warehouse.
  • Exposure to paper dust and noise levels requiring hearing protection.
