**About Greenwood Court:** Greenwood Court is designed as a 'Community of Care' where seniors are able to age in place. As the needs of our seniors change, they have access to additional services and supports without having to leave familiar surroundings or newly developed friendships. **About the Position:** Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, the Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the residents of the division they are employed with and meets Canadas Food Guide requirements, TCMH policies and procedures in accordance with the legislative standards and regulations. The Cook is responsible for all aspects of food production, food service and sanitation. The Cook will work closely with the Nutrition Services team. The Cook reports directly to the Director of Nutrition Services.

**WAGE:** $ 23.12-$26.82 hourly

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* **** **Safe Food Handling Certification is required**

* **** **Culinary diploma or a Red Seal Cook Certification is preferred**

* **** **Knowledge of safety and sanitation in food handling and equipment use, normally acquired through the attainment of vocational/technical training, such as two-year Community College Diploma in Food Preparation or equivalent.**

**EXPERIENCE**

* **Must have three (3) years of experience in large quantity food preparation in a health care or long-term care setting is required.**

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**

* **** **Understanding of therapeutic diets.**

* **** **Communication and human relations skills in order to respond pleasantly and professionally to demands; to communicate effectively with staff, residents, and families; to interact appropriately with and have a basic understanding of the geriatric population; and to participate as an effective team member.**

* **** **Ability to work independently.**

* **** **Ability to make accurate mental calculations for portion sizes and number of dishes required.**

* **** **Capable of checking of checking requisitions, orders, and inventory.**

* **** **Ability to manipulate the tools and utensils and equipment needed. Accurate in weighing and measuring foods and in portion servings. Able to make decisions under normal and abnormal conditions.**

* **** **Must be open knowledge and changes in Long Term Health Care, Retirement Homes Act and Food Services**

* **** **A tuberculosis (TB) test and annual influenza immunization are required.**

* **** **Knowledge of the policies and procedures established for Tri-County Mennonite Homes and the division employed at.**

* **** **Must provide an acceptable Police Records check in order to ensure suitability for working with the vulnerable sector of the population; and**

* **** **Ability to support and project values compatible with the Mission and Values of Tri-County Mennonite Homes.**
