Position Overview: Mountaineer Recovery Center Cooks provide healthy meals and food choices within our state-of-the-art treatment facility located in Kearneysville, WV. Offering a continuum of services ranging from outpatient through residential treatment services, our kitchen staff help patients understand what healthy meals include by providing well balanced meals during their inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment. At Mountaineer Recovery Center, patients learn how to incorporate healthy eating into a balanced recovery lifestyle. Position Type: Hourly Full-time 40 hours weekly (W-2) Reports To: Hospitality Chief or Designated Supervisor Core Competencies: • Professionalism that incorporates a high standard of ethical conduct and integrity; • Verbal and Written Communication skills that are proactive, clear and promote effective communication with individuals and within teams; • Collaborative and works well with multiple community stakeholders empowering recovery; • Strong desire to help others overcome significant obstacles and ability to maintain an empathic treatment approach; • Commitment to professional development and remains current with best practice standards for assessment and treatment techniques through use of in-service training, seminars, workshops, and publications. • Ability to treat and work with diverse populations, including but not limited to individuals who may have criminal histories, veterans, pregnant women, and homeless populations; and navigate/collaborate effectively with community partners/resources; • Understanding of goal directed outcomes; Duties and Responsibilities: • Aid in the food preparation and cooking process. • Monitor inventory levels consistently • Store all food products in compliance with health and safety regulations. • Washes and cleans dishes, pans, and equipment used in the preparation of food. • Ensure the kitchen is clean and organized. • Cleans the dining room thoroughly including floors, tables, etc. • Willing to adapt to the needs of the kitchen • MUST be able to work nights and weekends • Participation in supervision and Hospitality Team Meetings QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Required: • Willingness and ability to pass a federal background check.

  • COVID and Flu Vaccinations Required.
• Capacity to work independently but also collaborate well with other professionals. • Valid Driver's license and ability to transport self to various locations. • Understanding of Parameters of Confidentiality • Ability to demonstrate understanding of safety parameters in a kitchen and dining areas • Must be dependable, have a consistent and strong work ethic • understanding of meal preparation, health and safety within kitchen environments • Willingness to learn new culinary skills and take direction from Kitchen Supervisor and Hospitality Chief. • Willingness to teach others about healthy food preparation • Must be flexible with scheduling and can work a combination of mornings, evenings, weekdays and weekends.
  • GED or High School Diploma
Work Environment: May work in a variety of environments including professional offices, clinics, hospitals, or out-patient facilities. Physical Demands: Employee may occasionally have to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs. Needs to be able to utilize crisis intervention skills when needed.
