Thomas Cuisine is hiring talented Cooks for Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas!

Pay: $17.25 per hour

Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday from 6am - 2:30pm. Nights, weekend and holidays off.

What you will do

The Cook performs a wide variety of tasks and processes to prepare and cook food for students and employees, following standard practices and procedures while complying with regulatory requirements.

Our kitchen is busy! We serve a large campus of students and prepare 2,500+ meals daily. Successful candidates will have knowledge of cooking methods and procedures, including various types of preparation, and related routines including the following.

  • Commercial, high-volume kitchen experience (catering, hotel, country club) is a bonus!
  • Follows standard recipes, production sheets, tallies, and ingredient room sheets to achieve nutritious, high-quality, cost-effective meals.
  • Evaluates food preparation and recommends changes to improve operations.
  • Maintains equipment and cooking area. Follows kitchen opening/closing procedures.
  • Handles food and equipment in accordance with sanitation and safety practices.
  • Meets time deadlines for service.
  • Utilizes progressive cooking procedures to ensure an optimum quality product.
  • Follows daily prep and pull schedules as indicated in guidelines.
  • Ensures safety of food prepared by following safe sanitary food handling practices- hot food hot and cold food cold.
  • Follows specified cleaning procedures for all cooking equipment. Utilizes proper food storage practices- cover, label, and date.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check (State and Federal) and a drug screen.

What you will need

  • Speak clearly and present information orally.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • A high school diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year experience in high-volume food production preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand/walk frequently.
  • ServSafe Certification, Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM), or Accredited Food Handler Certificate required within 90 days of hire.
