Live the MissionSummary: The Night Cook/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the night-time culinary operations in a healthcare setting. This role involves preparing meals according to dietary needs, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare hot and cold food items using a variety of prep and production cooking equipment, following scratch recipes and department specifications
- Ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner that meets quality standards
- Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers
- Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality
- Order and maintain inventory of food and supplies needed to ensure efficient operations
- Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations
- Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
- Resolve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
- Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff's performance
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a cook in a supervisory role, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Excellent knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Familiarity with industry's best practices
- Working knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work during night hours
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
Certifications:
- Food Safety Certification (e.g., ServSafe)

- High school graduate or equivalent
- One (1) year experience in food preparation preferred
- Experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities

- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
- Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Assist in the evacuation of patients
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
