QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:Previous cooking experienceCurrent Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain oneAbility to prepare food that is nutritionally balanced, attractive and deliciousAbility to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform required dutiesAbility to follow verbal and written instructions in EnglishAbility to frequently move about the facility and transport food and supplies up to 50 poundsAbility to operate following equipment: blender, mixer, slicer, steam table, oven, grill, microwave, can opener, dish washer, food processor, toaster, knives, stove, coffee maker, juice machine, ice machine, mops, carts, broom, refrigerator and freezerComplete orientation required by company policyComplete health screening and TB test within two weeks of employmentComplete mandatory drug test upon hireAbility to pass a criminal background checkBecome familiar with and comply to all local, state and federal regulations relating to the jobWorking knowledge of cooking techniques, be familiar with seasonings and ability to consistently prepare food that is delicious and attractiveAbility to plan ahead for future menus (i.e. thaw meat, desserts, etc.)Good knowledge and judgment of peopleAbility to get to know families, plan well in advance and to successfully deal with stressful situationsKnow how to properly and safely utilize all kitchen equipment and appliances, and be responsible for its proper careWilling to work holidays and weekendsFlexible and willing to cover shifts for other employees, shift work may be requiredAbility to perform duties in a timely fashion, and within the prescribed sequences and schedulesAbility to perform assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision and develop awareness for and a willingness to perform other tasks, as needed, without supervisionAbility to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practicesExperience working with geriatric patients is preferred and may be requiredDUTIES INCLUDE:In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, you will need to direct the operation of the kitchen (plan ahead, delegate and work efficiently with minimum supervision)Cook a wide variety of foods in large quantities following prescribed recipes, and cook special diets and textures using proper food exchangesPrepare food by following standardized recipes and menus, as approved, and exercise good judgment in food quantities, portion control and timely preparationCoordinate the service of food ensuring that tray preparation follows prescribed menus, and resident likes and dislikes are honored, whenever possibleAssist with special activities, parties, picnics, etc. in planning, food preparation and service.Help clean up after each meal and do assigned cleaning tasks to maintain a sanitary, well organized, orderly work placeCleaning of equipment and appliances and work area must be cleaned in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal rules and regulationsCheck existing inventory and make a list of food and supplies needed, place the order and upon arrival, assist in putting everything away in proper storageComplete paperwork as requested or as neededInvite and arrange for families to eat with their related resident periodicallyShow courtesy and respect to other employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, the general public, etc.Abide by Eduro HealthCare's drug and alcohol policyMaintain good personal hygiene and dress and groom appropriately, this includes wearing a hair netReport on time as scheduled and follow all company policies and proceduresAttend staff meetings and in-service sessionsBecome thoroughly familiar with emergency procedures Follow al established safety precautions when operating equipment, and report hazardous and defective equipment or conditions to your supervisorCooperate with other departments and be courteous and respectful in dealing with them at all timesParticipate in and respond professionally to surveys (inspections) conducted by government agenciesRespect all resident rights, including the confidentiality of resident care informationReport immediately to Administrator and to proper legal authorities if you have reason to believe a resident has been physically, emotionally or sexually abused, or been a victim of theft of their personal propertyEnsure food preparation and service is in accordance with accepted state and administrative policies and within budgetary allowancesFollow all established safety procedures and precautions when operating equipment, and report hazardous and defective equipment or conditions to your supervisorEnsure safety precautions, sanitary regulations, infection control and universal precautions are followed during daily work assignmentsFull-time position.$15.00 - $17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
