The role of the Cook 1The Cook 1 role is a senior cook position, the ideal candidate will be able to work any station in the kitchens, possess advanced culinary knowledge, highly proficient knife skills and ability to multi-task. Maintain operations in the kitchen in absence of a sous chef. Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to handle large parties and solve kitchen related issues.The Cook 1 will prepare menus in collaboration with colleagues, have input into the preparation and presentation of dishes on the menu. Enforce health and hygiene standards. Good understanding of dietary requirements and ability to follow policies and procedures relating to allergens. Complete requisition sheets and communicate necessary kitchen maintenance items through appropriate channels. Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner food items per guest orders in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.High school education, cooking school or culinary institute education or equivalent experience, minimum five years culinary or related work experience.A successful candidate will have a flexible schedule, ability to work morning, afternoon, or evening shifts, weekends, and holidays. Must be fluent in English and possess legal work authorization in the United States.Must have basic understanding of health codes and knife work. Able to learn and to work a singular station cleanly and efficiently. Willing and able to absorb teaching/coaching in order to better themselves as a cook.
