General Summary: To accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for various meal periods, including catered events.These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, following the mission, values, and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and guests.
FTE: Full timeResponsibilities: - Ensure final products are fresh.
- Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients.
- Bake, grill, steam, and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods.
- Presents, garnish and arrange final dishes.
- Occasionally serve food.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes.
- Handle and store ingredients and food.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils.
- Execute opening and closing procedures. Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients.
- Monitor station inventory levels.
- Accommodate special requests, including prepare meals within a special diet.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers.
- Prepare and cook to order foods that may require short preparation time.
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations to ensure high quality food service is provided at all times.
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
- Report accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Attend allergy, foodborne illness and safety training and hazard assessment.
- Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- May receive inventory, move and lift food and supplies.
Skills and Qualifications: - Minimum high school diploma.
- Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating on complex dishes
- Interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of people.
- Calm demeanor to work in a high-stress, fast paced environments
- Accountability for dishes they prepare measuring up to the expectations of management and customers alike.
- Comprehension and organization to follow direct orders and recipes to correctly prepare dishes to standard of the corporation.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting, and dicing. Ability to stand for hours at a time. Ability to use a computer.
- Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds.
