Cook and serve well-balanced meals at proper temperatures.Supervise prepping and cooking in the kitchen.Train and mentor clients and volunteers to work in the kitchen.Follow all food safety guidelines of our local health department.Keep serving line well stocked during serving times.Clean all kitchen floors, equipment, hood vents, coolers, serving lines, walls, restrooms, cambro food containers, and anything else that requires cleaning.Meet personal goals and actively contribute to the achievement of the team and organizational goals as stated on the Balanced Scorecard and in the annual plan. Support the team in other tasks as assigned. Support the Holiday Center, Bridge Builders Luncheon, and other fundraising events as directed.RequirementsEducation and Experience: High School diploma or GED completed; prior food service preparation experience required; Servsafe certification or food handlers certification required. Experience preparing well-balanced meals for school age children preferred.Skill Requirements: This position requires the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary framework; Must be willing to be cross-trained and utilized throughout the Inside the Box Catering. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally as well as in writing. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner. Requires the ability to supervise interns or volunteers. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, staff, and volunteers.Physical Requirements: Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing/walking/bending/stooping and stretching. Must be able to relocate materials in a safe and proper manner. Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability as to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.Other: Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Valid FL driver's license with a good driving record and insured vehicle in order to transport self and orders when necessary. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule during strategic and holiday periods of the year including weeknights, weekends, and particularly Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
