SCSD2 is seeking a candidate that is positive, professional, and dependable to work as a Cook's Helper at the Sheridan Junior High School!This position will earn 10 paid sick leave days per year, 2 paid personal leave days and all other time off will match the school calendar including Christmas, Spring and Summer breaks off.STARTING WAGE: $14.19 - $17.19 per hour, depending on experienceQUALIFICATIONS:* Prior experience working in a kitchen or food service environment preferred but not required.* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.* Ability to follow instructions.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.* Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 pounds.* Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.REPORTS TO: Kitchen SupervisorJOB GOAL:To assist in the operation of the kitchen by efficiently completing assigned tasks and learning other jobs to maximize the operation of the lunch/breakfast program.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:* Assist in food preparation such as washing, cutting, peeling, and slicing ingredients; serve food during breakfast and/or school lunches; refill condiments or other supplies as needed.* Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.* Stock and organize a variety of items in the kitchen including food, milk, dishware and utensils.* Learn a variety of kitchen tasks as practical in order to fill in or assist as directed by the kitchen supervisor.* Learn to operate kitchen equipment properly and to use tools in a way that is safe, efficient, sanitary, and economical of time and materials.* Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.* Be punctual, neat, clean, and ready to work and have a good attitude toward associates and all others at work.* Complete other tasks as assigned, with minimal supervision.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.* Lower body strength to stand and walk throughout the workday.* Ability to reach overhead to retrieve cookware or supplies.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration.
