Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. Prepares reports to submit to the NYS Department of Health and American College of Surgeons.Duties & Responsibilities1. Performs data entry and analysis.2. Reviews Trauma audit forms and medical records for information required for the Hospital's Trauma Registry3. Enters all required data into the Registry4. Exports Registry data to NYS School of Public Health5. Prepares ad hoc reports for performance improvement or research purposes6. Participates in on-going educational activities and seeks experiences to maintain knowledge and skills appropriate to the job setting7. Participates in orientation of new staff. Customer Service:1. Anticipates customer's needs and within scope and authority, takes initiative to meet those needs, keeps customer informed about actions taken2. Provides consistent and timely follow-through which ensures that all customer requests are addressed in a prompt and courteous manner3. Makes every attempt to defuse potentially volatile situation4. Resolves differences in a spirit of cooperation; creates solutions that benefit all parties5. Able to maintain composure, efficiency and positive customer service oriented manner during periods of peak workload6. Participates in the Customer and Staff Satisfaction initiatives.7. Adheres to the ICARE standards of Customer ServiceMinimum Qualifications1. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and2. Two (2) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, one (1) year of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician; or two (2) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including one (1) year in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or3. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in 1 above; and4. Three (3) years of full-time experience, as described in 2 above, including two (2) years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations, as listed in 2 above; or5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.Note: Certification or licensure may be required.Department PreferencesEducation Level:
  • Baccalaureate degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university or
  • Associate degree in a relevant field with two years of experience in trauma registry
Knowledgeable in:
  • All applicable local, state, federal and NYC Health + Hospitals rules and regulations
Preferred Skills:
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to review Medical Records
  • Ability to accurately track documents
  • Working knowledge of trauma regulatory standards - State of New York Department of Health (NYSDOH)
Equipment/Machines Operated:
  • Use of personal protective equipment (e.g., N95 respirator, face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed.
Computer Programs/Software Operated:
  • Various including PeopleSoft
  • Microsoft Office
  • EPIC
