Job Description:
Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital.   • Collects and abstracts all mandated clinical indices from injury time through hospital course to discharge.
  • Inputs all defined data indicators into the trauma database.
  • Skilled in use of multiple patient care data bases.
  • Insures that policies and procedures relating to the trauma registry are maintained and updated.
  • Selects and collates trauma data indicators for quality assurance and research initiatives.
  • Maintains concurrent monthly performance improvement indicators as dictated by the PI plan for trauma.
  • Translates all data into NTDB indicators ensuring meet data dictionary
  • Participates in the Regional Trauma Advisory Committee as well as the State Trauma Advisory Committee.
  • Assists Trauma Program Leadership in all projects assigned regarding registry and data elements.
  • Maintains mandated educational requirements as described by the American College of Surgeons standards for Trauma designation.
  • Participates in all assigned committee meetings, clinical meetings, and daily rounding related to trauma care.
  • Maintains closed loop communication with TPD/Lead Registrar regarding day to day work, issues with clinical observations noted, connectivity issues, or registry issues.
  • All other tasks as assigned by the Trauma Program Director and/or Lead Registrar
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains an accuracy score of 94% or above by 30 days.
  • Ensures compliance with ACS COT requirements
Minimum Qualifications1. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and2. Two (2) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, one (1) year of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician; or two (2) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including one (1) year in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or3. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in 1 above; and4. Three (3) years of full-time experience, as described in 2 above, including two (2) years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations, as listed in 2 above; or5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.Note: Certification or licensure may be required.Department PreferencesCERTIFICATION(S)/NYS LICENSE(S):
  • AAAM AIS 08 and/or 15 certificate
  • ICD-10 Course within past 5 years
  • Trauma Registry course (ATS or equivalent) completion
KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:
  • Excel proficiency
  • Medical Terminology
  • Minimum 1 year Trauma Database experience (NTRACS, TraumaOne, Lancet, etc).
