Job Overview:
The Coordinator assists the Patient Access Supervisor in the daily operations of the Outpatient Patient Access Department. The Coordinator is responsible to assist with staff training and new hire education. The Coordinator assists with monitoring of performance of staff and processes, through the registration systems and various reports and reports findings to the Supervisor. The Coordinator must be proficient in all areas of the outpatient registration processes and procedures and will perform registrations when necessary. Overseas issues in absence of the supervisor. Effectively communicates with staff, internal departments, physicians and patients. Provides outstanding customer service. Must be able to work independently, with self direction and motivation. Must possess problem solving and strong communication skills.
Qualifications:
Required:
* 5 to 7 years hospital based experience preferred; prior facility /professional registration experience preferred
* HS Diploma/GED
* High level of interpersonal, customer service skills required
* Ability to multitask, coordinate onsite and offsite registration, knowledge of insurance rules, regulations and requirements

Scheduling Requirements:
* Shifts Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
* Full-Time, Days
Essential Functions:
* Accurately performs all registration functions. (customer service, document collection/retention, registration, lobby, scheduling and clearance systems)
* Assist the Supervisor with oversight of the offsite registration and non-Patient Access service areas
* Assists the department with staff training and new hire orientation
* Assists with projects and roll out of processes
* Coordinates workflow with Patient Financial Services and Centralized Clearance/Scheduling office
* Courteously handles all problems and complaints/concerns, as it pertain to patients, staff and other hospital departments
* Ensures, proper clearance of accounts, productivity, POS cash, reports, clearance system alerts and re-educates/ coaches staff as necessary, with guidance from the Management team
* Identify areas for improvement and work with the Supervisor for re-education or update processes as needed
* Maintain and order supplies for the department
* Makes recommendations as to ongoing performance evaluation of processes and employees
* Monitoring of key performance indicators, reports, etc. to ensure high performance
* Performs other duties as assigned
* Works with departments to insure clearance and follow up on accounts. Cancellations, reschedules and account integrity, etc.
