Under the supervision and direction of the Senior Director, the Coordinator provides administrative and project support to the Constituent Program and Annual Giving team. This full-time, benefits-eligible position is responsible for performing a variety of complex administrative and project activities related to the College's fundraising objectives. This role is collaborative across the Advancement Division, as well as with internal and external constituencies.
Responsibilities
* Assist the senior director with various giving initiative activities for milestone reunions and other targeted class giving; in honor of or affinity-based giving; and athletics fundraising programs. Assist with annual stewardship efforts for class funds and other special initiatives.
* Assist the senior director with athletics related solicitation appeals and stewardship activities, including friends and family campaigns, direct mail initiatives, and the planning and implementation of the annual Hornet Athletics Giving Day.
* Support the development of materials and reports for special initiative volunteers; assist with coordinating volunteer meetings and tracking follow up activities/meeting outcomes.
* Develop proficiency in donor database and reporting tools, with the ability to run or build basic reports and queries. Assist with updating constituent information, including biographical information.
* Provide support, as needed, for donor and stewardship events.
* Other administrative tasks might include: draft, edit, and proofreading correspondence; reserving meeting space; and calendaring on behalf of the senior director.
* Participate regularly in Advancement staff meetings and other relevant department meetings.
* Answer the College's main phone line as scheduled and work with advancement teammates to coordinate these responsibilities as necessary.
* Participate in professional activities to stay current with trends in the development field.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, preferably assisting with fundraising programs in higher education annual or major giving, volunteer or program management, marketing or comparable experience. In addition, the successful candidate will possess many of the following skills and abilities:
* Ability to manage multiple projects at once; high degree of organization, with strong attention to deadlines and details.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience writing/creating marketing content for varied audiences is highly desirable.
* Capable of working independently, while also engaging in collaboration between teams.
* Ability to initiate and nurture strong working relationships with others; a capacity for building confidence and trust among colleagues, donors and volunteers is essential.
* The position requires a strong customer service orientation for frequent interaction with colleagues, coaches, alumni, and donors.
* Ability to work with data management information systems and fundraising databases; superior skills using the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams).
* High motivation for success coupled with diplomacy, tact, and consistent follow-through.
* The ability to handle confidential material with discretion is required.
* Knowledge of higher education fundraising, donor relations or alumni engagement. Proven ability to engage volunteers preferred.
* Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours, including commencement and homecoming events, as assigned.
