Posting DetailsPosition InformationJob Title Coordinator, Early Interventionist Department Center for Excellence in Early Child - 23150 Pay Grade 6 Job Category Administrative Job Summary Center for Excellence in Early Childhood is accepting applications for an Early Interventionist.The Early Interventionist will provide direct developmental services through the Tennessee Early Intervention System ( TEIS ) to a.) children (ages birth to 36 months) and families who are eligible for IDEA Part C services and b.) children who are eligible for IDEA Part B services(ages 36 months until the start of the school year following the child's 4th birthday). Services are provided to children and families in home-based and inclusive childcare settings primarily in Sullivan and Washington County. The Tennessee Early Intervention System ( TEIS ) is a program that provides services to infants, toddlers, and young children who have disabilities or other developmental delays. The TEIS program is a critically important program to support young children and their families to reach optimal development. This is a voluntary program and services are provided at no cost to families.All staff employed by ETSU Expanding Horizons Early Intervention Resource Agency ( EIRA ) are informed about the Rights of Infants and Toddlers under Part C of IDEA and share this information with families in a positive manner. All ETSU Expanding Horizons staff adhere to the TEIS Operations Manual and all updates on policies and procedures pertaining to providers of home/community-based developmental therapy under the auspices of the Tennessee Early Intervention System ( TEIS ) and the Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging ( DDA ).Pursuant to the contract with TEIS , our agency is responsible for verifying through the State of Tennessee websites and other appropriate databases that any individual having direct contact with or direct responsibility for persons receiving services from our agency must complete a criminal background check. The criminal background check, at a minimum, shall include, but not be limited to, a check of the following: a fingerprint-based criminal history records check conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation ( TBI ), the Tennessee's Sex Offender Registry, the Abuse Registry of the Tennessee Department of Health, and DDA's substantiated investigations record inquiry.   • Knowledge of child development, including atypical development of children with medical diagnoses, disabilities, and/or significant developmental delays;
  • Knowledge of developmental assessment/evaluation tools;
  • Knowledge of Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Act ( IDEA );
  • Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA );
  • Knowledge of the Family Guided Routines Based Intervention home visiting/family coaching model.
Required Qualifications
  • Must hold a bachelor's or higher in one of the following
    • early childhood education special education
    • early childhood education
    • child and family studies (Child Development)
    • early intervention
    • deaf education or visual disabilities
    • special education K-12
    • elementary education
    • communicative disorders
    • speech and language pathology
    • occupational therapy
    • physical therapy
  • OR have a degree in a related field including (but not limited to)
    • social work
    • nursing
    • psychology
    • education administration
    • sociology
  • Related field degrees require a minimum of 1 year of documented full-time experience working with children with disabilities ages birth to 5 years and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MA or MS in early childhood special education, early childhood education, family and child studies (child development), early intervention, deaf education or visual disabilities, special education K-12, elementary education, communication disorders, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy;
  • Bilingual, able to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently;
  • Skills in case management;
  • Experience in developmental assessments and/or evaluations;
  • Direct work with children and families; and
  • Computer/data entry skills.
Salary Salary will meet FLSA standard guidelines for administrative exempt status. Regardless of the amount of earned annual leave remaining at the end of this contract, 37.5 hours is the maximum amount that will qualify for the lump sum payout.Posting Detail InformationPosting Number AS01395P Is this position subject to a criminal background check?
