This position manages all aspects of the computer lab including monitoring participant usage and assisting participants with basic computer literacy skills. They will also coordinate weekly computer competency workshops, providing computer training for new Americans. This position is grant funded for a one-year term, with the possibility of extending.RELATIONSHIPS AND CUSTOMERSJobs and Family Service OrganizationsPotential StudentsPublic Service OrganizationsCity and County GovernmentESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.Monitor and manage the daily operations of the computer lab.2.Engage with participants to mentor success and, where applicable, help identify participants who would be ready for further training, certification or education opportunities. 3.Assist with basic computer literacy skills including logging in, establishing email accounts, assisting with editing documents, resumes and job applications and printing.4.Track all participants including accurate sign in and sign out sheets. 5.Monitor lab usage and ensure participants are using the computer lab for employment and enrichment opportunities.7.Develop curriculum and workshops for English as a Second Language participants. 8.Administer TABE tests to measure participant language proficiency. 9.Track and report all grant outcome data as defined in the program outcomes. 10.All other duties assigned by supervisor.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; associate's degree in computer science or related program preferred
- Proficient in multiple languages, Haitian Creole preferred
- Instruction and/or classroom experience preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to instruct and mentor participants successfully through the curriculum.
- Ability to work together with DJFS staff to build stronger partnerships.
- Strong time management, organization, and strict adherence to detail required.
- Polished professional attire and grooming consistent with college image is required.
- Excellent oral, written, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong computer application skills including Google applications, social media/LinkedIn and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of IT systems.
