Job Type Full-timeDescriptionBASIC FUNCTION:The Minister Church Connection Coordinator assists in connecting pastorless churches with potential candidates. In so doing, the Coordinator will create an effective connections process that includes interim ministry to pastorless churches, the training of search committees, the creation and promotion of a candidate database, and a vibrant communications strategy between key BGCT stakeholders. The Coordinator also assists in the creation of a pipeline of ministers and ministry graduates who are seeking a ministry leadership position. Such attachments normally reflect unique aspects of specific locations, shifts, departments, etc. 1. * Provide support to Baptist churches who are without a pastor.
- a. Contact churches who have lost their pastor as a first responder
- b. Coordinate, schedule, and conduct interim ministry presentations to churches and aid in training search committees
- c. Refer church needs to BGCT staff as needed
- d. Help churches identify their need between an interim pastorate and an intentional interim pastorate
2. *Create and expand an effective connections ministry process whereby the BGCT supplies churches with access to potential ministerial candidates' resumes, primarily for pastors and other top-level ministerial vacancies in the church. Network with ministers and facilitate their participation in the connections ministry database. Ensure the delivery of qualified candidate resumes to BGCT churches seeking a pastor. 3. *Develop and maintain an effective network of quality, BGCT-supportive supply preachers for various regions of the state. 4. *Train and maintain a list of qualified interim and intentional interim pastors
- a. Oversee the effort to train and qualify ministers for Intentional Interim ministry as well as provide continuing education opportunities for those who qualify.
- b. Train other presenters to conduct interim ministry presentations and training pastor search committees for churches
5. *Facilitate communication about pastoral vacancies among churches, associations, BGCT area representatives, and other BGCT institutions and staff. 6. *Attend conferences to enhance ministry. 7. *Use the BGCT CRM system (currently SalesForce) to report significant ministry-related contacts (churches and/or individuals). Update staff changes to keep the database up to date. 8. *Maintain frequent contact with BGCT area representatives, ambassadors, and other staff to keep the pastorless church list up to date. 9. Participate in the promotion of the Cooperative Program. 10. Answer phones promptly, take accurate messages, and respond to requests for information promptly. 11. Process mail and other correspondence accurately and promptly. 12. *Prepare and proofread letters, memos, spreadsheets, and other correspondence accurately. 13. *Respond to requests for information accurately and promptly. 14. *Attend meetings and participate in training as required, including continuing education conferences and other workshops to maintain proper proficiency levels. 15. *Maintain compliance with the Baptist General Convention of Texas policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements. 16. Perform other duties as required. *Task is considered an essential and primary function of the job. POSITION REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: NOTE: These requirements represent minimum levels in order to perform the job on a satisfactory basis. Candidates must have the ability to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the job. 1. In-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge, generally acquired through the acquisition of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus formal education/training and professional development or an equivalent minimum of five years of ministry experience. A Master of Divinity or other Master's degree in related field is preferred. 2. Active membership in a church supportive of the BGCT during employment. 3. Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally, with an understanding and commitment to Baptist distinctives. 4. A high level of understanding of Baptist polity and history and a general understanding of the climate of Texas Baptist churches during the last several years. 5. Proficient public speaking skills and ability to prepare and deliver presentations effectively. 6. Ability to consult churches in strategic thinking and visioning. 7. Professional training in conflict management or ability to participate in training. 8. Knowledge of leadership theology, theory, and practice and ability to act in a leadership role. 9. Proficient client management skills. 10. Ability to communicate clearly and proficiently over the phone. 11. Ability to maintain confidentiality. 12. Proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide range of information from numerous entities. 13. Proficient ability to speak, read, and write English. 14. Ability to speak clearly and make self-understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with accuracy on the telephone. 15. Ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, communicate over the phone, and proficiently communicate in situations with some background noise. 16. Ability to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption; ability to focus attention on tasks for 45-60 minutes at a time continuously. 17. Ability to understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts; ability to remember verbal and written tasks/assignments from a few hours to long periods. 18. Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task. 19. Professionalism in the workplace to include professional and accurate communication with others. 20. Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google email, social media, and internet skills. 21. Ability to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. 22. Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination.
