Posting Details Position Information Position Title Coordinator for Recruitment, Retention, and Experiential Learning Activities Job Type Staff Position Information The School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences (SANS), University of Maryland Eastern Shore UMES), seeks applications and nominations for the position of Coordinator for Recruitment Retention and Experiential Learning Activities in the SANS Center for Student Excellence (SCSE). This is a full-time, twelve-month staff position. Reporting to the Director of the SCSE, this position carries responsibilities for recruitment, retention and experiential learning activities in the school. The position will work closely and in partnership with campus the admission team and other relevant areas across campus. The position will work closely with all the department chairs in the school. The Position will assist with management of Land Grant Scholarship Program and solicit resources to support programs. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team in the SCSE office and across the school. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to: The Coordinator for Recruitment Retention and Experiential Learning Activities will be part of the core administration of the school and will provide administrative support for SANS academic enterprise. This will include: Supporting the enrollment needs for the three primary academic departments; Travelling to College and Career Expos in and out of state to recruit students; Maintaining external partnership and relationships with key sponsors and organizations advocating for minorities in agriculture; Serving as the campus liaison between students and faculty/staff for all scholarship, internship and career opportunities for students, and managing the UMES Land Grant Scholarship Program and Land Grant Fellows and STEM Community of Scholars program. Specific responsibilities will be as follows:
- Manages the UMES Land Grant Scholarship program through marketing the program to potential students, solicit applications, organizes application reviews, coordinates awards, supports students throughout their enrollment, and collects data for required reporting.
- Solicit financial support (write proposals) to support recruitment, retention and experiential activities.
- Assist in the management of the UMES Land Grant and STEM Scholars Programs.
- The individual in this position will attend, organize, and execute various recruitment events.
The recruiter will be expected to:
- Contact and meet high school counselors and teachers to explain various academic programs in the School.
- Work with chairs, departmental faculty and student recruiters to coordinate recruitment activities.
- Participate in classroom visitation and other special events to explain the school's academic programs to potential students.
- Provide information regarding admissions requirements and program benefits to prospective students and parents via phone, mail and personal visits; follows up with mail or phone call, as appropriate.
- Assist new students with the enrollment process and career options.
- Follow up with and maintain data on students who choose to leave school/University to identify reasons why.
- Produce follow-up reports regarding activities and future plans.
- Work with recruitment staff to coordinate.
- Provide support during Enrollment 101, registration, special events and tour.
- Assist new students with the enrollment process including advising, placement testing administration, and registration of first-time students.
- Facilitate planning, organization and implementation of special events in the School.
- Coordinate and help with the organization of summer camps and other experiential learning activities for precollege students.
- Coordinate schoolwide experiential learning activities as needed.
- Provide support for the organization of Schoolwide retention activities as needed.
- Coordinate with the schoolwide marketing and communication team to ensure effective promotion of SANS.
- Liaise and synergize with extension personnel who are involved in youth development programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Strong oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in an academic institution.
- Knowledge of 1890 Universities and especially our mission as a land grant university
- Experience with enterprise software used for finance, travel, human resource management, and procurement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Experience in the use of technology for communication.
