Job Description:
Description Coordinator, Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and Grants Reporting to the University Director of Research and Graduate Education, this position will ensure ethical and regulatory aspects of animal and human subjects research are managed effectively; and the submission of grants and contracts are managed effectively. The Manager will also monitor and implement regulatory changes, sponsor requirements, and best practices to ensure high ethical standards and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Duties
  • Assist with all aspects of Sponsored Research and HRPP.
  • Assist with electronic data management of IRB systems, grant systems, conflict of interest forms, etc.
  • Manage the Human Research Protection Program; advise researchers on policy and procedures, conduct preliminary IRB reviews of submissions and make exemption determinations as needed, work closely with IRB Co-Chairs.
  • Monitor and review proposals for conformance with sponsor and University guidelines.
  • Be a liaison for the IACUC program.
  • Conduct educational workshops for the university community (e.g., presentations in classes, labs, departments, centers).
  • Implement the Responsible Conduct of Research program, including monitoring and maintaining files for compliance.
  • Maintain the University's assurances with government agencies and submit required reporting documents.
  • Continue to develop knowledge and skills applicable to research protections through training and conferences.
  • Performs other such duties as assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; additional education or certifications desirable.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in research protections with demonstrated increases in responsibilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the ethical conduct of research and human and animal subjects regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a range of researchers, staff, and administrators.
