The Open Pathways is unique in that its improvement component, the Quality Initiative, affords institutions the opportunity to pursue improvement projects that meet their current needs and aspirations.Department/Division Purpose (brief description of main function):The Division of Nursing provides academic leadership across the college to provide quality healthcare and public safety education that prepares the learner to meet the needs of diverse populations in an ever-changing environment.Job Summary Statement (brief summary of overall responsibility of position):The Coordinator of Nursing Clinicals oversees the development, placement, implementation, and evaluation of all clinical activities for the students enrolled in the Pueblo and Fremont campus Nursing Programs. In addition, the Coordinator works with other program faculty, off-campus staff, and the nursing program director in establishing laboratory/clinical schedules, maintenance of clinical affiliation requirements, student advising, and other duties assigned. In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 24-50-135, this position has been exempted from the State Personnel System. Job Duties Essential Functions
  • Coordinates all clinical rotations with clinical affiliates and required clinical instruction prior to clinical rotations to include student/instructor orientation documentation, computer access, Pyxis access, security codes and other requirements set by clinical affiliates.
  • Prepares clinical schedules for student rotations and distributes to the clinical affiliates in a timely manner and communicates with clinical affiliates regarding placements needs and changes.
  • Assures that all students meet program health, current CPR card, and verification of malpractice insurance, drug screen, and background check requirements before entering the clinical domain and maintain these files on a semester by semester basis.
  • Assists the Director in completing the hiring process for faculty and part-time instructors.
  • Assists Director with faculty, load and compensation; orients instructors to clinical expectations, coordinates clinical assignments, ensures that clinical instructors maintain all required documentation.
  • Maintains files on all clinical assignments and ensures that all clinical contracts/affiliation agreements are current.
  • Serves as departmental liaison to clinical facilities.
  • Participates in program promotional activities.
  • Participates in regional and national self-studies and program reviews as required to maintain state program approval and national accreditation.
  • Assists the program director with data base development, internal and external process improvement, and validity, trending, and projection analysis.
  • Attends student graduations and Nursing pinning ceremonies.

  • Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
  • Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.
  • Serves on committees and other groups as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications QualificationsEducation
  • Associate's degree.
Experience
  • Experience with data management.
  • Experience in coordinating schedules or programs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a position that requires good written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Ellucian Banner.
  • Able to lift 15 pounds.
  • Able to read and communicate in English.
  • Mobility around campus.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel
