The Hospice Bereavement Volunteer Coordinator is an integral part of the Hospice program. An active member of the IDT. Responsible for assessing all patient bereavement counseling needs and assuring that there is an effective support system to meet those needs. Responsible for providing grief education and support for Hospice patients, families, and the community. Responsible for the oversight of the volunteer services program.Required Knowledge & SkillsEducation: Associate Degree or 2 years of college courseworkExperience: One year of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.Licenses and Certifications*DRIVER'S LICENSE*VEHICLE INSURANCEQualifications*Ability to work well with others at all levels in the health care community.*Minimum five years experience in health care.*Hospice experience preferred.*Must have a true understanding and commitment to the Hospice philosophy.*Must respect the beliefs of patients and families.*Must be emotionally mature and stable.*Neat, pleasant demeanor, and confident personality.*Must possess excellent communication skills.*Must have willingness to treat and care for the dying patient in the home setting.
