GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Assists the Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards, Outreach & Support in the investigation and resolution of student conduct complaints. Works in collaboration with residence life staff to facilitate the communication of community standards and expectations to the student body and to provide a consistent, coordinated response to areas of concern. Provides educational programming in support of the University's mission to foster student development in the areas of ethics, integrity and respect.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The Coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards, Outreach and Support.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Functional supervision of individuals serving as Community Standards hearing officers.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assists with the review, processing, and investigation of student conduct complaints, serving as a primary student conduct officer for Title IX complaints, off-campus incidents, and incidents that would result (with a finding of 'responsible') in a sanction of suspension or greater.

* Provides triage for students in the Dean of Students suite with regards to academic, personal and social issues as needed.

* Upholds the University's Code of Conduct and all federal, state and local laws.

* Produces student conduct related reports and maintains student conduct records.

* Provides consultation with University stakeholders with regard to student behavior and disciplinary records, as appropriate.

* Meets with students to facilitate informal meetings as well as formal proceedings

* Consults with the Dean of Students on student appeals of infractions that would result in expulsion from the University.

* In consultation with the Director of Residence Life and the Assistant Dean of Students, reviews and updates student code of conduct regulations and student conduct system procedures, policies, guidelines, and publications on an annual basis, or more frequently, as required.

* Provides educational programming related to ethical decision making, integrity, respect, managing conflict, bystander intervention, and other pertinent topics.

* Participates in and completes annual Title IX training.

* Member of the Student Affairs Deans Council and University's Threat Assessment and Student Assistance Teams;

* Participates as a member of the University administrator on-call rotation.

* Assists with prospective student and continuing student retention activities and events.

* Assists with campus-wide events such as new student orientation, family & homecoming weekend, admissions events and commencement.

* Designated as a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act

* Accountable for ensuring that equal opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility. This includes regular review of the Code of Conduct and related University policies with regard to equitable best practiceS.

* Responsible for reporting to the Equal Opportunity Officer or Title IX Coordinator knowledge or receipt of reports of discrimination, discriminatory harassment, and retaliation from students or other members of the university community.

* Other duties as assigned by Assistant Dean of Students or designee.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily inside office work but occasional assistance with indoor and outdoor events. Will travel across campus for meetings or programming.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's Degree

* A minimum of two years of previous student conduct experience in a college or university setting;

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field;

* Experience using Guardian software for the processing of student conduct complaints.

* Five years progressive student conduct experience.

* Prior experience adjudicating Title IX complaints.

* An understanding of college student development.

* Strong organizational skills.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks.

* Bilingual in English and Portuguese

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit with a union title of Staff Assistant - Coordinator of Community Standards and Student Support. The starting salary range is $57,000 - 60,000.
