Job Description:
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Workforce Education and Development, the incumbent will coordinate the College's Mechatronics programming including oversight of the Mechatronics Lab at DCC@Fishkill, equipment used in mechatronics programming, close collaboration with credit and credit-free faculty and the Director of Off-Campus Centers, and supervision of Mechatronics Lab staff. The selected individual should expect to have responsibilities that span DCC campus locations and remote environment, though the primary workstation will be at DCC@Fishkill.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role and responsibilities of the Coordinator of Mechatronics Programming include:
* Teach credit and credit-free courses in mechatronics programming;
* Obtain, maintain, and manage MSSC (Manufacturing Skill Standards Council), CPT (Certified Production Technician), SACA (Smart Automation Certification Alliance), and other relevant industry certifications;
* Implement program development strategies;
* Provide oversight and maintenance of the labs and all equipment for mechatronics programming;
* Work with the Office of Instruction & Learning, faculty, and the Scheduling Office to build schedules for mechatronics programming;
* Assess learning outcomes for students participating in mechatronics programming;
* Build networks in the mechatronics industry, recruit students, and establish partnerships;
* Foster positive relationships with existing partners;
* Work with college offices to manage complex financial operations and Physical Plant pertaining to mechatronics programming;
* Work closely with HVAC instructors and staff;
* Participate in the College's governance committees and related activities;
* Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ASND ABILITIES
* Vast knowledge in mechatronics, engineering, automation, or related disciplines;
* Demonstrated understanding of the knowledge, skills, and processes needed to select and evaluate curriculum, as well as instructional methods in workforce programs for adult learners;
* Experience supervising instructional staff;
* Excellent computer skills, including a high level of proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications;
* Concern for student needs in a demanding academic context, as well as flexibility, patience, and professional integrity;
* Demonstrated ability to work with and support a diverse population of students, instructors, and staff;
* Success at managing a wide array of projects and initiatives and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment;
* Excellent interpersonal communication and project management skills;
* Dedication to ongoing professional development to stay relevant in industry knowledge, training, and coursework.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelors' degree in Mechatronics and Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline;
* 2+ years of successful teaching/training experience;
* 5+ years of related industry experience;
* Ability to work independently, problem solve, and innovate within the context of an academic organizational structure;
* Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues;
* Demonstrated experience with project management, procurement practices, and internal controls for inventory management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Master's Degree in Mechatronics and Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline;
* 3+ years of supervisory experience;
* Experience working at a community college;
* A commitment to diversity and an understanding how diversity impacts learning and instruction;
* Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS), such as Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle;
* Experience and familiarity with higher education enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as Banner or PeopleSoft.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, grant-funded position. Continuation of appointment is dependent on availability of funding and the meeting of grant-related objectives.
WORKING CONDITIONS
* The performance of this work is primarily in-person and on-site at our DCC@Fishkill campus.
* Flexible hours may be necessary.
* Some travel will be necessary.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY
Class: Non-Teaching Educator (DUE)
Salary: $64,288 - 76,986
