Job Description:
St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Ann Arbor, Michigan is accepting applications for the Coordinator of Worship position. The position is part time at 25 hours per week and is paid a salary.   • Fluent in English (both written and verbal). Spanish is a plus but not a necessity.
  • Proficient in office software.
  • Ability to be trained and become proficient in Ministry Scheduler Pro (MSP) software used in preparation of quarterly liturgical ministry schedules.
  • Collaborative and professional demeanor.
  • Practicing Catholic with an understanding of Catholic Sacraments and teachings.
  • Adherence to Diocesan Ethical and Personal Conduct Policies.
  • Before hiring, must complete and be in compliance with the Diocesan requirements of the Charter for the Protection of Children & Young People (includes background check and Virtus program training).
Coordination of Liturgies:
  • Coordination of volunteers and preparation of materials for successful implementation of parish liturgies in conjunction with the Pastor, including daily & weekend Masses and special Holy Days/Feast Days. Some specific duties include:
  • Preparation of weekly Welcome & Universal Prayers
  • Preparation and updating of weekly Mass Intention Sheets for Presider's binder
  • Preparation of deacons' schedule and quarterly liturgical ministry schedules
  • Planning of parish & school penance services
  • Preparation of worship aids for Advent/Christmas, Easter Triduum/Pentecost, Advent & Lenten Communal Penance Services
  • Coordination and oversight of funerals, weddings and Quinceañera Masses & records.
  • There is some seasonal variability with more work associated with major feasts and holidays, such as Christmas and Easter Triduum, and less work associated with the summer months.
  • Delegation is an important aspect of this position.
  • Expected attendance at all Pastoral Team meetings.
  • Reservation of facilities, as necessary, for liturgical celebrations, funerals, training and formation events, or other meetings or events.
  • Oversight of main liturgical calendar (hard copy & online) and submission of work orders for Maintenance Team, as necessary.
  • Inventory and ordering of all liturgical items and other supplies needed for liturgical celebrations and altar & church care.
  • Maintenance of orderly accounts and records.
Recruitment & Training of Liturgical Ministers:
  • Altar Assistants, Altar Servers (in coordination with the Associate Pastor), Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Readers & Ushers
  • Baptism Assistants, Funeral Assistants, Quinceañera Leaders & Wedding Coordinators
  • Together with other members of the Pastoral Team, the Coordinator of Worship will organize and host ministry enrichment, formation and training programs (approximately 2-3 times/year)
  • Regular email or phone contact with liturgical ministers, coordinators or other volunteers, as necessary.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of Art & Environment (A&E) Committee and, in conjunction with its members, preparation of yearly calendar for:
  • weekly decorating of Sanctuary, Church & Gathering Spaces
  • decorating for special liturgical times of the year & recruiting of volunteers to assist, when necessary
  • Recruiting and oversight of parishioners who handle the following volunteer areas:
  • scheduling of weekly Adoration volunteers
  • sacred wash/vestment cleaning and repair
  • preparation and sewing of baptismal garments
  • coordination of funeral luncheons
  • Writing of occasional articles for the cover of the Sunday bulletin based on the Sunday readings (2-3 times/year). This responsibility is shared with other Pastoral Team members. Submission of other bulletin articles, as necessary, for advertisement of upcoming trainings, formation events, liturgical celebrations, etc.
  • Preparation of quarterly and yearly goals. Yearly meeting with members of the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Commission to discuss and give an update on the worship ministry accomplishments, needs and goals for the following year.
  • Cover front desk or main phone line, on occasion, if necessary.
