Job Description:
St. John Catholic Church, located in Westminster, seeks candidates for a part-time Coordinator of Youth Ministry. This position will accomplish the mission of St. John, Westminster through Liturgy, Faith Formation, Service, stewardship, and Evangelization. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry will work collaboratively with the pastor and parish staff in implementing goals and developing the parish's vision for the middle school and high school-aged youth, with a primary focus on preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. This position is temporary which will expire on June 30, 2025 and non-benefit eligible, working 19 hours per week.Essential Functions
  • Youth Ministry
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement youth social meetings and retreats (i.e. weekly youth drop-in nights).
  • Provide opportunities for the youth to be involved in Outreach and Parish Ministries
  • Assist the pastor in preparing liturgical celebrations focused on the youth
Confirmation Program
  • Responsible for implementing and evaluating the curriculum to be used by the volunteers and the youth during the year.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and coordinate the schedule of volunteers who will lead the small group discussions for those preparing for Confirmation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement youth social meetings and the yearly retreat for confirmands.
  • Organize and lead parent preparation sessions to inform parents about the process for the preparation of the Sacrament of Confirmation in accord with the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Policies.
  • Assist the pastor in the preparation of the liturgical celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Contact the Archdiocese to schedule the Bishop who will celebrate the Confirmation Mass as necessary.
  • Communicate with parents, catechists, sponsors, and candidates on a regular basis.
Position Qualifications
  • Practicing and devoted Catholic who is fully able to participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to prioritize work.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to direct, form, and manage volunteer staff.
Range:$40,000 - 45,000, Annualized Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.Benefits: We offer a generous paid sick leave benefit with this position, and employee automatic enrollment in the 403(b) plan.
