Position Summary

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for payroll processing for WKU including collection and verification of employment data, computation of wages, and accurate and timely payment to employees. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll in accordance with relevant regulations, contracts, and policies, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, and providing excellent service to WKU employees.

The position reports to the Payroll Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

+ Ensure accurate calculation and distribution of salaries, wages, and other compensation for multiple payroll groups monthly.

+ Collaborate with human resources, information technology, and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, promotions, terminations and changes to pay rates.

+ Prepare payroll tax forms and payments as required by federal, state, and local regulations.

+ Ensure accurate processing of wage related garnishments and deductions.

+ Ensure accurate balancing and recording of payrolls to the financials on a recurrent basis.

+ Process bank direct deposit information as it related to payroll.

+ Resolve and respond to local payroll inquiries as necessary.

+ Process Verification of Employment requests as necessary.

+ Develop forms, mailing groups, and payroll related processes as needed.

+ Electronic scanning and record retention of payroll documents.

Job Requirements:

+ High School Diploma or GED

+ At least two years of payroll processing and/or booking experience

Additional Information:

Hourly Range: $19.50 - $20.05
