Position Title: Coordinator, Prison Education ProgramPosition Status: Full-TimePosition Summary InformationThe Coordinator of Prison Education (CPE) will implement and administer programs for incarcerated degree seeking students of the prison education program (PEP) at Sheridan Correctional Center,Kewanee Correctional Center, and other facilities. The CPE will work with the Director of Prison Education and other appropriate personnel to meet the goals of and administer the program.ResponsibilitiesModel the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.Coordinate with academics, Admissions, and Financial Aid to support student application processes state-wide, PEP course scheduling for multiple cohorts, and FAFSA form completion at prison locations.Work with the Director to organize on-site activities that prepare students and sites for programming, including orientations, student meetings, and meetings with IDOC staff and administration in the Office of Adult Education.Work on site at prison locations 2-3 times per week coordinating student programming, supporting faculty, and working with the Education Facility Administrators.Manage and disseminate forthcoming newsletter written by incarcerated students and PEP staff.Work with prison facility personnel for proper authorization of faculty/staff, courses, and materials including requesting gate passes, completing IDOC program and background check forms, submitting syllabi and student class lists.Implement policies to formalize program processes.Liaise with faculty and appropriate personnel to ensure that educational materials (books, articles, etc.) are ordered and/or printed, volunteer paperwork is completed, reimbursements for travel are submitted.Work with the lead academic advisor to ensure that students are registered, assist students in submitting any forms or petitions, and other functions as needed (i.e., requesting academic reports or scheduling advising sessions).Run study halls, workshops, zooms and other activities as needed on-site at facilities.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field.Strong interpersonal, administrative, and organization skills.Proficiency with IDOC and facility policies and protocols or willingness to learn.Experience with incarcerated populations and/or desire to work with individuals in custody.IDOC clearance to enter facilities.Reliable transportation.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree preferred.Higher education in prison programming experience preferred.Work HoursWork hours are generally during business hours though occasional evenings and weekends are necessary.#J-18808-Ljbffr
