DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTIONProvides clinical patient care within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including assessment of condition, goal setting, and nursing actions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient.Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses patient self-report and symptoms of pain promptly, utilizing an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment.Demonstrates an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual . Educates patients and patients' chosen support person(s) about medications.Demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of MU Health Care and assigned nursing unit.Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person ( i.e. resident physician, ancillary support teams) and records those observations accurately and concisely.Coordinates daily staffing assignments based on patient acuity and unit needs.Adjusts staffing levels as necessary throughout the shift to maintain safe patient care standards.Ensures smooth patient flow and efficient bed management within the unit.Coordinates admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients as needed.Responds to clinical emergencies or critical incidents within the unit.Communicates effectively with healthcare providers and other departments during emergencies.Facilitates effective communication between nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and achieve optimal patient outcomes. Full understanding of the attendance and punctuality guidelines and the dress code.May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMissouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.One (1) year of acute care and/or operating room RN experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAdditional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation.
