- Regular attendance is required to perform the duties of this position.
- Recognize and respond effectively to all emergencies. Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations.
- Participate in in-service training.
- Teach swim lessons according to a prescribed routine and curriculum.
- Test program participants for swimming skill levels; pass participants for participation in more advanced classes.
- Monitor the use of the aquatic facilities.
- Perform various miscellaneous duties such as answering phone, conducting classes, collecting fees, organizing classes and special events and maintains sanitary standards in and around aquatic facilities.
- Respond to public inquiries about aquatic programs made in person and by telephone.
- Maintain related records for various aquatic programs.
- Assist in the maintenance of the swimming pool.
- Monitor and maintain pool filtration system.
- Monitor pool chemistry through testing of water samples.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Any combination of education and knowledge equivalent to a high school background. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Skill in operation of listed equipment. Skill in American Red Cross Community First Aid and CPR.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors and the general public; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to give and understand oral instructions.Ability to effectively teach swimming lessons; ability to effectively enforce safety and health regulations relating to an aquatics program. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Phone, cash register, various hand tools used for pool operation and maintenance and pool testing equipment.
