We provide workforce training and development to nearly 500 incarcerated men and women. CSI is a financially self-supported program of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). Determine materials necessary for production/customer service. Submit timely orders. Ensure jobs are completed on time and to customer satisfaction. Works with customers to resolve product issues. Perform office related tasks: records, payroll, purchases, orders, costing, inventory, and other relevant data. Inspect tools, chemicals, and equipment; ensure safe use, and provide preventative maintenance. Assist with employee and inmate training. Develop quality control processes throughout stages of production. Analyze existing product design and develop cost effective methods. Pick up and deliver parts and supplies. Plan and coordinate special projects. Submit reports and handle correspondence. Drive laundry delivery truck as a backup. Provide shop relief as assigned, during this time hours may vary.Requirements / QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Experience in a skilled trade or manufacturing work similar to the production in the assigned shop OR graduation from a vocational technical school relevant to the production process employed. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of general equipment and facility maintenance. Knowledge and experience sufficient to recognize, analyze, prioritize and perform preventative maintenance and repairs. Project management experience in a laundry or manufacturing environment. Class A or B CDL preferred.Other: Valid driver's license required. Must obtain Class B CDL within 90 days of hire.* Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program.*FMCSA Clearinghouse Registration Notice to Applicants: The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has created the Commercial Driver's License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse). The Clearinghouse is a secure, online database that contains real-time information about CDL drivers with drug or alcohol program violations in accordance with 49 CFR Part 382. It is effective as of January 6, 2020. Prior to hiring an individual to perform safety sensitive duties, NDCS is required to conduct a full query of the individual to check whether the Clearinghouse contains any information prohibiting the individual from performing safety sensitive duties. An individual must provide consent for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services to perform a full query. An individual may only provide consent through the Clearinghouse. Individuals are therefore required to be registered with the Clearinghouse.
