JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day accounting and management of the fixed asset accounting processes of the company, which includes maintenance of fixed asset records, Fixed Asset and Construction-in-progress account reconciliations, preparing journal entries during the month-end close process, partnering with subject matter experts to ensure business transactions are recorded accurately, adherence to established internal controls, and coordinating with Management and remote location project owners to ensure projects are closed and capitalized timely and accurately. PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute an established system of controls, procedures, and forms for the processing of fixed assets.
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions, transfers, and dispositions in the accounting systems.
  • Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
  • Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and timely close out those projects once the related activities have been completed.
  • Manage the periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
  • Reconcile the balance in the Fixed Asset and Construction-in-progress subsidiary ledgers to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
  • Participate in month-end accounting close processes in compliance with critical reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare journal entries, audit schedules, year-end tax schedules and other required quarterly schedules accurately and on-time to support the Cabinetworks financial reporting schedule.
  • Perform other general ledger account analysis and reconciliations as assigned.
  • Assist external auditors with the annual audit process providing appropriate documentation as needed.
  • Proactively plan for and support year-end accounting close process.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analyses as needed.
  • Initiate and participate in departmental continuous improvement activities.
  • Adherence to all appropriate financial policies such as GAAP and SOX.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 2 years experience in Accounting, preferably with Fixed Assets exposure
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including remote locations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department and across the organization.
  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management.
  • Previous knowledge or experience with SOX compliance.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • MBA
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
  • Enterprise level ERP experience (Oracle, SAP, Ariba, Sage Fixed Assets).
  • Previous Manufacturing or related industry experience.
  • Lean Process Experience (Green or Orange Belt, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sitting for Extended Periods: The nature of the job involves sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods while performing administrative tasks, using a computer, and engaging in various in-office activities.
  • Computer Use: Proficient use of a computer, including typing, mouse manipulation, and viewing a computer screen for extended periods is essential.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and printers. This may require fine motor skills and dexterity.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying of office supplies, documents, and other materials, typically not exceeding a certain weight limit (e.g., 20 pounds).
  • Mobility: Ability to move within the office environment to access filing cabinets, printers, and other office equipment.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders directly in person or via electronic communication.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to read printed and electronic documents, as well as distinguish colors, for tasks such as proofreading and reviewing documents.
  • Multitasking: The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work effectively, which may require mental agility and adaptability.
