        • Earn up to 10% additional pay weekly for 2nd and 3rd shift positions!*In addition, we offer opportunities for career growth, professional development, and tuition assistance.The Corporate Sanitation Manager has the responsibility of traveling to various Smithfield plants to verify that the sanitation company activities at the plant are executed per the SSOPs, that corrective actions are taken as needed to address sanitation deficiencies and that proactive actions are taken to prevent sanitation issues - thus ensuring USDA regulatory compliance and the production of safe and wholesome meat products.Core Responsibilities
          • Sanitation System Compliance
            • Routine travel to Smithfield locations to verify that all sanitation activities and practices are of sound design, are performed as intended in a timely manner, and are properly documented.
            • A liaison between Corporate and the facility and the contract sanitation company to address negative sanitation performance trends and confirm effective corrective actions.
            • Troubleshoot problematic areas of facility and address problematic sanitation issues to assist facility to prevent spoilage issues or environmental pathogen concerns.
            • Author Smithfield Way Sanitation Procedures for standardized cleaning of specific equipment within a facility.
            • Provide training to Smithfield staff members on Sanitation Procedures and techniques.
            • Assist departments such as Engineering, FSQA, and Operations in identification of sanitary design issues and corrective actions to address such issues.
            • Assist departments such as Purchasing, FSQA and Operations in improvements of effective sanitation solutions to improve the sanitation performance on a piece of equipment or within a department or facility.
            • Develop and franchise processes and procedures for standardized practices and cost savings opportunities across Smithfield.
            • Employee Training
              • Ensures the Sanitation Company conducts pre-op inspection training with its employees prior to their first pre-op inspection.
              • Provides feedback to Plant Management of Smithfield and the Sanitation Company on the performance of sanitation process staff so that corrections can be made when necessary.
              • Develops and fosters a strong working relationship with the USDA and the Sanitation Company.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.                 • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering or related field from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years' experience in the professional sanitation or meat industries and processes; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
                • Knowledge and understanding of sanitation science and meat processing.
                • Knowledge of USDA, FSIS, HACCP, and SSOP requirements.
                • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret sanitation guidelines, or technical procedures.
                • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
                • Ability to uphold regulatory, company and customer standards
                • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel and Word.
                • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar/line graphs.
                • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
                • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
                • Must be able to travel 70%. (Target 70% - May be required to travel up to 90% due to special projects). May be required to work long hours and weekends.
                • This position primarily works 3rd shift.
                • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
                • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.Work Environment & Physical Demands
                  • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
                  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area. Travel locations include airports, cars, etc.
                  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
                  • Specific vision includes close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
