Description: The Corporate Outreach and Communications Internship will play a crucial role in supporting the development and execution of strategies aimed at enhancing our external corporate relationships and fostering a positive and engaging work culture. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in corporate communication, relationship building, special events, and charitable functions. The duration of the 2025 Spring Internship is fourteen to sixteen weeks, scheduled to occur from approximately January 2025 through May 2025, or during a timeframe mutually agreed upon between Fareway Stores, Inc., and the intern.
Responsibilities: The goal of the Fareway internship program is to provide an experience which will expose the intern with real-life work opportunities and to provide on-the-job experience: * Coordinate and participate in meetings with external/internal partners to discuss philanthropic needs. * Support the creation of outreach materials, presentations, and communication pieces. * Draft press releases and coordinate media at key company events * Assist in coordination, documentation, and tracking of charitable giving support and events. * Assist in planning and organizing logistics for in-person events, ensuring smooth execution. (examples are store opening, groundbreaking, volunteer event, etc.) * Assist leadership with various communication-based tasks.
Skills and Requirements: * Current college or university student, or recent graduate. * Self-starter, exhibits initiative. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with social media platforms. * Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. * Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently on assigned projects.
Preferred Qualifications: * Upperclassman or recent graduate studying Corporate Communication, Event Planning, Marketing other related field. * Current Fareway employee.
Location: * Fareway Corporate Office: 8800 NW 62nd Ave, Johnston, IA. * Some remote, evening/weekend work may be required.
Additional Details: * Internship is a paid opportunity. * Interns are responsible for local housing needs during the internship period.
