Position Summary

Are you passionate about the intersection between data-driven insights, impactful business strategy and solving complex challenges? The Strategic Insights team partners with business and enterprise-wide leaders to deliver business intelligence and analytical recommendations to aid in the decision-making process. We help illuminate areas of opportunities to drive incremental value across the business and work on a wide variety of compelling high impact projects that span marketing, product, sales, and more. As a member of the Strategic Insights team, you will be a part of a group of highly skilled analytics professionals, with a passion for data and insights.

The Head of Business Intelligence and Management Reporting will be a data-driven leader who gathers and delivers the BI solutions and insights the company will need to make critical business decisions. A successful candidate will have strong technical and business acumen, as well as great problem solving, social skills, creativity, attention to detail, and leadership skills.

This is a leadership position that requires exceptional communication and collaboration skills together with deep data knowledge and experience in designing robust reporting operations. The position works with key stakeholders to understand their needs and instantiate processes to support reporting deliverables, on time, with a high degree of accuracy. The leader will interact with a broad set of NYL executives to support their decision-making and create a strategic vision of reporting excellence within the organization and establish best practices. This includes but is not limited to leading and participating in requirements gathering sessions, design workshops, systems evaluations, and managing a team of high-performing employees.

The BI leader is accountable for the operations of the group, and as such, hires, manages, provides timely feedback, develops and empowers employees while holding them accountable.

Responsibilities

  • Be a key player in leadership discussions, create value by measuring and interpreting business strategies; providing actionable recommendations to capitalize on those insights; standardizing common metrics and reporting; and developing/deploying new tools and data products.
  • Lead and mentor a team of top-notch talent; build career paths that promote growth and development; and define processes that integrate analytic insights into the business and across the team.
  • Lead the effort to become a fully data-driven culture by ensuring the BI and Management Reporting team is appropriately integrated into the brand; the organization has the tools and capabilities to become more data savvy; and your team is effectively delivering through both insights and actions in their day-to-day activities.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and end users to define requirements for new technology and reporting solutions, focused on helping to identify opportunities to drive business results.
  • Partner with change management and support resources to drive adoption of new BI solutions across the business by identifying findings and presenting recommendations to business leaders on opportunities to drive results and improve decision-making.
  • Operationalize insights through development of dashboards, tools, and processes.
  • Develop actionable recommendations and communicate them in an easy-to-digest manner.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines and working productively.

Experience/Qualifications

  • BA/BS is required, Business/Computer Science/IT or related field, Master's preferred.
  • 4+ years as a Business Intelligence leader with a track record of delivering value-added executive level dashboards.
  • 3+ years of experience with more than one business intelligence tool (Domo, PowerBI, Qlik, Spotfire, Tableau, etc.) is preferred.
  • Excellent communicator with verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills that can motivate and influence partners and stakeholders, both internal and external to the team.
  • Curiosity and desire to question the status quo.
  • Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts, SQL, and Cloud platform technologies.
  • Strategic hands-on thinker and problem solver who is willing and able to roll up their sleeves and get into the data to drive results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and lead multiple work assignments with high standards in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be a big picture thinker with an innovative mindset, coupled with a track record for creating solutions that are efficient, effective, and essential.

Salary range: $155,000-$267,500
