Job Objective: The Corps Ministries Assistant will provide help in programming for all corps ministries and activities. In fulfilling assigned duties, this position will play a critical role in moving individuals from uninvolved members of the community to members of Salvation Army programs and corps and ultimately becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. This position also allows a specific space for learning about corps ministry and the different aspects of the corps.
Essential Functions:
Ministry Programming
- Provide primary oversight for the following programs:
- Corps and Community Evangelism
- As a part of the ministry team, work to ensure that programming and communication engage participants throughout the continuum of ministries at the Corps (church) and Community Center
- Participate in corps financial goals by observing budget and support of fund-raising efforts.
- Teach or preach as needed
- Property upkeep and facility preparation for programming.
- Assist with special events as needed
- Participate in pastoral and evangelistic ministries, Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council and Youth and Adult Planning Committees.
- Represent the Army at community events [including, but not limited to; Service Clubs, Committee participation, school functions, and Ministerial Associations.]
- Participate in and coordinate, as assigned, the development of corps programming, worship arts, music programs, special programming [VBS, Day Camps, Corps Outreaches Character Building and Leadership Training for corps members.]
Volunteer Management
- Recruit, train, and place volunteers for the Corps and community center
- Ensure compliance with all related policies, including references and background investigations
- Maintain Volunteer Impact2 Database to The Salvation Army standards
- Recruit and train leaders for youth and adult ministries of the corps
Administration
- Complete statistical reporting for assigned areas
- Assist with the Red Kettle Campaign (Christmas) and other fundraising projects as assigned for financial reporting and depositing
Other Duties
- Attend Divisional and Territorial events as assigned
- Provide oversight to all Corps activities in the absence of the Corps Officers
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Minimum two years' post-secondary education and Bible training. Relevant experience and/or training may be considered in lieu of education requirements.
Experience: Demonstrated successful experience serving in youth or adult ministry with increasing levels of responsibility; experience serving in faith-based, social services organizations preferred; Experience providing program leadership to achieve program goals and objectives
