Description Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine Responsible for providing non-emergent primary medical care at one or more designated community facility(s) and/or through telemedicine or other virtual health delivery technologies. Ensures organizational compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. This mid-level clinician will be responsible for all patient care activities, including chronic care management, acute care, and care coordination. This mid-level clinician will practice comprehensive primary care medicine including the provision of women's health and some office-based procedures.
  • Responsible to the Chief of Staff and general clinic physician.
  • Provide primary care for patients and adjust therapeutic regimens as needed.
  • Complete medical assessments including history, physical, and social assessments
  • Formulate diagnosis based on data collected and within scope of practice.
  • Assess patient for admission, discharge or transfer. Initiate transfer of acutely ill patients to appropriate service after completion of diagnostic tests and/or consultation with the attending physician.
  • Discriminates between normal, normal variations, and abnormal deviations by specific screening tests and refers patients with abnormal findings to appropriate members of the health care team.
  • Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings obtained by history, physical screening, behavioral assessments and, in collaboration with the designated physician, implements an appropriate management plan.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic studies and executes such diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as the physician may assign.
  • Provides health maintenance and anticipatory guidance.
  • Executes physician's orders in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed; write or renew medication orders. Supervises students. Assists with the provision of in-service education Adheres to internal controls for the Health Services Division. Initiate appropriate referral and consultation. Order equipment, prosthetic devices and supplies as needed. Performs related duties as required.

Fertitta Family College of Medicine Masters and 3 years experience Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Qualifications •For PA: Bachelor of Physician Assistant Studies from accredited Physician Assistant program by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) •For NP: Master of Science in Nursing •For PA: One year of advanced practice clinical experience •For NP: Two years of advanced practice clinical experience •PA - Physician Assistant - State LicensureFor PA: Licensed and credentialed by the Texas Board of Physician Assistants AND •PA-C - Physician Assistant-Certified (NCCPA)For PA •APRN - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Texas Board of NursingFor NP AND •AANP - Credentialed member, American Academy Of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)For NP: Certified by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner, based on applicable patient population, i.e •AP - Prescriptive Authority - Texas Board of Nursing AND •DEA - Narcotics License (DEA) within 6 months AND •BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
