Position Description This position assists in the overall operation of the Unit Medication Room and distributes client's medications from filled prescriptions.
Major/Essential Functions - Administers medications and documents as ordered. Adheres to facility policy and procedure of medication administration.
- Distributes and documents Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmates' medications.
- Ensures drug room security, replaces unit working drug stock and maintains the upkeep of drug room and pharmaceutical equipment.
- Returns outdated medication to the pharmacy and keeps log books updated.
- Enters medication compliance in the TDCJ pharmacy computer system and performs all duties within the limits of the Medication Aide Permit and according to NCCHC standards, TTUHSC and TDCJ policy and procedures.

Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent and successful completion of a certified medication aide training course and passage of State exam.
