Essential FunctionsWhat You'll Do:Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Correctional Nurse, you will:
  • Perform thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and assessments of the inmate population, addressing both routine and complex medical needs.
  • Provide daily nursing care, first aid, and emergency medical treatment in accordance with physician-approved protocols.
  • Conduct daily nurse sick calls, ensuring timely and appropriate care for all inmates.
  • Administer medications, including injections, following the Medical Director's orders, and monitor the use of medications in compliance with the Code of Virginia.
  • Perform venipuncture and collect other laboratory specimens, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all procedures.
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment such as oxygen tanks, blood pressure equipment, glucose testing devices, and emergency response tools.
  • Complete detailed reports and medical forms, assist with physician's sick call, and perform other medical duties as assigned.
Typical QualificationsWhat We're Looking For:
  • A High School diploma and/or GED required.
  • Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, with licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia or awaiting licensure.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of LPN experience in a clinical environment is preferred but not required.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License.
