This position will provide case management to specified inmate caseload and will be responsible for training, evaluation, and supervision of subordinate staff. This position must review, analyze, and evaluate documents and behavioral data gathered from interviews, written documentation, and personal observation. Program Director I must effectively communicate with staff, inmates, and general public, verbally and in writing. This position may be require operation of DAC motor vehicles in a safe and secure manner in varying weather and road conditions. This position will work under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders, who can become physically violent and verbally abusive. This position must conduct continuous visual and audio surveillance of assigned work area, operate various office machines, computer and prepare written performance crisis intervention and routine counseling to include suicide prevention. Program Director I also accounts for supplies and equipment.This person will need the ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinate employees as well as the ability to initiate and implement any needed program and procedures. Sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting these policies and procedures is required. This person needs to have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with all staff within the institution. This position must also have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and also have the ability to express comments and opinions clearly and concisely in oral and written form.Correctional Program Director I is responsible for the management/supervision of various programs/activities for the Institution. Specifically, this employee will supervise and coordinate various activities of professional or sub-professional staff engaged in the correctional program's operation. This position will also serve as the Case Management Specialist for the unit. The tracking and management of the inmate population is a sophisticated and complex effort and will require the expertise of the professional level including coordinating efforts with other agencies, providing for a program audit system, and participating as a member of a facility management team. Duties also include establishing work schedules and standards, coaching, counseling, NCVIP, evaluating training needs, providing direction and guidance in program implementation and delegating of special and routine duties. Program Director I will also be responsible for providing initial and ongoing training to operational Program Staff and coordinating training for all unit staff. Program Director I is responsible for continued growth/development of unit Community volunteer (on-site) program. This position will delegate duties/responsibilities in this area to subordinate staff.This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with **Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.**Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is NC10.
