DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Activities Specialist for the Department of Corrections, you will have a vital role in the rehabilitation and well-being of inmates. Your responsibilities will include organizing, instructing, and supervising leisure time activities, inmate work crews, and sports at your assigned institution. You will also be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and teaching programs that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of inmates in areas such as sports, games, creative and performing arts, and social recreation. This role will involve coaching or assisting in the coaching of various sports, such as basketball, soccer, and powerlifting, and demonstrating basic sports techniques and fitness equipment. - Full-time employment (40 hours per week)
- Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,343.00 (before taxes).

- A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
