THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, your focus will be to provide care, custody, control, monitoring, and supervision to re-entrants housed at the facility, ensuring safety and security for residents and staff. Key responsibilities include maintaining the Daily Activity Log, observing re-entrant behavior through one-on-one and group interactions, as well as through the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system, and maintaining the sign-in/out register for all re-entrants and visitors. Work includes conducting new re-entrant orientation to the CCC which includes reviewing DOC/CCC policies, rules, and regulations, providing information on availability of public services, making room assignments, and assigning duties. You will have the opportunity to provide information to visitors regarding CCC operations and serve as a point-of-contact for law enforcement agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Salary: Beginning salary for this position is $19.30 per hour ($40,268.00 annually).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
  • This position requires shift work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience).
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).

  • The selected candidate for this position must undergo a fingerprint-based records check to be in compliance with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS).
