THE POSITION
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) enhances public safety through the housing and rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals in facilities throughout the Commonwealth. We are looking for a dedicated Corrections Counselor 2 to join our team and aide in the treatment of inmates at State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Muncy. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will be responsible for providing complex professional counseling services and casework management to inmates. This is an incredible opportunity to provide individual counseling to inmates who demonstrate significantly disruptive, violent, or insubordinate behavior. Counseling comes with record keeping, and you will be required to maintain and present those records for your inmate caseload. In addition, you will assist inmates in solving social, economic, and emotional problems to the extent of influencing changes in attitude and behavior. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $61,903 (before taxes).
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Corrections Counselor 1 (commonwealth title); or
- One year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility, and a bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility and 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
