DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Library Assistant you be supervising all operations of an institutional library in the absence of the Librarian, creating and maintaining a clean and safe environment that promotes reading and learning for inmates. You will be overseeing inmate work crews and completing inmate attendance and progress reports, answering questions from the inmate population and institutional staff pertaining to library resources and programs, and completing daily call-outs for inmates. You will be replying to inmate correspondence and processing the library mail. You will also assist the Librarian in training, scheduling, hiring and terminating inmate library personnel. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hour work weekWork hours are 12:00 :PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,467.00 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of clerical experience; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.
