The Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse works in close andimmediate contact with adults and children in custody on a daily basisproviding general and emergency nursing care in the Medical and Ambulatorysection of the Corrections Facility while maintaining facility securitystandards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, treat andevaluate the patient/inmateIntegrates and implements referrals of inmates to the staffphysician, nurse practitioner, dentist, mental health professionalLooks for signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient's condition and reports to RN and/orphysicianCollaborates with RN regarding the plan of care according toevaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursinginterventionsDocuments patient's response to nursing and otherinterventionsMonitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment andequipmentParticipates in infection control activities as directed byInfection Control Coordinator and/or nursing supervisorParticipates in the orientation and continuing education ofstaff as applicableParticipates in the Health Quality Improvement Program asapplicableAdheres to all facility policy and procedureFollow security guidelines and protocol on tools/sharpscounts and ingress/egress policies at all timesPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Possesses a current Practical Nursing License in theapplicable stateMinimum of one year experience in Corrections preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
