Accountable for ongoing development and maintenance of product costs; partner with operations to trace costs back to underlying business activities. Support business as partner to Plant Manager to drive plant savings.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial accounts of the entity, including monthly accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. Recommend corrective actions to management based on analysis.
- Establish and maintain an environment of controls and compliance in line with Vesuvius standards.
- Analyze manufacturing variances to understand financial performance in cooperation with operations team and identify improvement opportunities.
- Manage and update standard costs in local ERP system; costing support will include actual products as well as new product inquiries.
- Support and provide input into planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Produce ad hoc reports as required to enable decision making.
- Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation.
- Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile with the accounting system.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Work with other departments to streamline processes and improve cost efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant business or technical field.
- 3+ years of experience with financial controls in a manufacturing setting.
- 5+ years of experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of MS Office with strength in MS Excel.
- Detail oriented and organized with strong analytical ability.
- Ability to hit deadlines and work under time constraints.
- Willingness to collaborate with functions outside of finance.
- Prior work with ERP software preferred; JD Edwards a plus.
- Geared toward continuous improvement and high performing teams.
- Ability to communicate complex topics in a concise fashion.
