Known for quality and innovation, Chroma offers a range of standard and custom solutions designed to enhance imaging and detection in various industries, including life sciences, astronomy, and aerospace.Role OverviewThe Cost Accountant/Financial Analyst is essential in managing and analyzing the company's costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction. This position involves preparing, analyzing, and reporting cost data for Chroma and its subsidiary, 89 North, aiding management in making informed decisions.Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and records
- Establish standard costs for manufactured and purchased items
- Calculate direct labor and overhead rates
- Determine job profitability and ensure accurate pricing
- Prepare and analyze cost reports, identifying trends and variances
- Identify and strategize cost reduction opportunities
- Ensure accurate cost allocation and provide detailed cost information for decision-making
- Analyze financial performance and product profitability
- Optimize production efficiency through yield analysis
- Support sales in pricing strategies
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and records
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting
Secondary Responsibilities
- Monthly bank reconciliation
- Month-end close for 89 North, including allocations, accruals, sales tax, and financial statements

- Enter data and produce documents using a computer
- Maintain close vision for computer work
- Communicate effectively via phone
- Maintain regular attendance

Qualifications
- Minimum five years of cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of SQL
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Report writing experience
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Effective interpersonal skills
