Job Summary: As a Cost Accountant at LogistiQ, A Division of LEWCO, you will be a part of our accounting team. The ideal candidate is responsible for developing, analyzing, and reporting on cost data to ensure that financial records are accurate and comply with established accounting standards. This role plays a critical part in budgeting, cost management, and asset management within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Analyze production costs, overhead, and variances to provide detailed reports on cost performance.
  • Prepare and present cost reports for management, highlighting key insights and trends.
  • Oversees inventory accounting, including reconciliations & providing support to Operations with cycle count analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate valuation of inventory and report on inventory discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for cost control and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement and monitor cost-saving initiatives.
  • Review and maintain standard costs for products by comparing actual manufacturing performance to standard and current costs.
  • Update costs as necessary for changes in labor, materials, and overhead.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Work closely with production, procurement, and other departments to gather and analyze cost-related data.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to other teams within the organization.

  • None.

Travel Demands:

  • This position may require occasional travel.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights. Proactive approach to identifying issues and proposing solutions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (SyteLine preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of complex formulas and pivot tables.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. High degree of accuracy in work, with the ability to identify and correct errors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Successful completion of 60-day probationary period.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA Certification is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting or a related field, preferably within manufacturing or production environments.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment is pleasant, temperature controlled, professional office environment in a manufacturing setting. The employee works in an office setting but does have frequent interaction with the shop floor. On the shop floor, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed and the air temperature fluctuates with the seasonal weather.
