Overview:
The Cost Analyst Engineer works with contractors and the customer project teams to generate and analyze integrated project costs, forecasts and reports. Utilizes change management (management of change, budget transfers, contingency drawdown and trend logs) to ensure the team is aware of the expected estimate at completion. Works with Finance to ensure established accounting processes, systems, and procedures are followed.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor costs and commitments.
- Generate and update the cash flow forecast monthly, and as needed to support business planning activities
- Administer Cost Engineering impacted management of change, including budget transfers, contingency drawdown and trends.
- Maintain consistency in cost bases through rigorous adherence to the controls processes.
- Work with Procurement, Project Management, Scheduling and Contractors to understand VOWD, accruals, outstanding invoices and help resolve claims if necessary.
- Work with Finance to ensure established accounting processes, systems, and procedures are followed.
- Facilitate meetings and present information to the Project Manager and the Leadership Team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience
- Well-rounded Cost Engineering background
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cost Engineering/Project Controls (oil and gas preferred)
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required
- Power BI or equivalent knowledge preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Cost accounting tools – SQL Server, SAP, SMART, Cost Tracking Tools/Dashboards
- Ability to analyze data and summarize information for ease of understanding at multiple levels
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate at all levels and to work well within a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Consistently considers problems, process improvements, changes, etc. with an enterprise mindset.
- Accountable for ensuring their stakeholders meet and continue to improve cost management practices.
- Influential leadership skills require to champion new analytical tools or business processes to engineers for improved project performance
- Ability to work independently, self-starting and proactive with strong organizational skills.
- Low Code/No Code experience, specifically using or building Power Platform solutions would be a major plus.
