Requirements for Specialized Counseling Therapist
- Master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited college or university and at least two years of supervised experience in the field
- Licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Board (LSW, LISW, PC, PCC) or otherwise credentialed to provide Counseling and Psychotherapy Services
- Excellent crisis management as well as group facilitation and training skills
- Ability to develop appropriate program services as needed, work within department budget and perform duties required
Responsibilities for Specialized Counseling Therapist:
- Has expertise in utilizing therapeutic techniques appropriate for client's with sexual offenses, to include best or evidence-based practices.
- Knowledge of spectrum of mental illness, symptomology, psychotropic medication, and sexual deviant behaviors.
- Ability to assess for potential danger to client or others and how to effectively intervene.
- Works collaboratively with team including other therapists, supervisor, clerical support workers, and probation officers to provide service to clients. Ongoing communication is necessary with all team members.
- Ability to complete Diagnostic Assessment Forms (DAF), STABLE (dynamic assessment tool), treatment plans, progress notes, outcomes and other required paperwork and collect client fees.
- Completes treatment plans, clinical and billing documentation according to the agency's paperwork policies as appropriate
